- Quercetin use for two weeks was associated with significant increase in blood plasma quercetin levels and significant improvement (2.9%) in 12-min treadmill time trial performance as well as a modest (4.1%) but statistically insignificant increases in the relative copy number of mitochondrial DNA and messenger RNA levels of four genes related to mitochondrial biogenesis.

- Quercetin use for seven days was associated with a 3.9% increase in VO2max along with a substantial 13.2% increase in ride time (bicycle) to fatigue for test subjects.
The dietary flavonoid quercetin increases VO2max and endurance capacity.

- Quercetin Increases Endurance and Energy in Laboratory Study
- A controlled scientific study on the effect of quercetin feedings in mice resulted in increased mitochondrial biogenesis (the production of mitochondria) in both the brain and muscle of the subjects. The increased mitochondria was associated with increased maximal endurance as well as increased voluntary exercise, suggesting greater energy.

- A University of Michigan study indicates that "quercetin may be beneficial in the treatment of viral infections" by virtue of its ability to inhibit the replication of the rhinovirus, the virus which is responsible for the vast majority of common colds.
